The Phoenix des Lumières celebrated great success as a center for digital art with the immersive exhibitions on Klimt and Hundertwasser in 2023. Now the museum in Dortmund wants to build on this with the new show "Dalí: The Endless Enigma" and once again enchant the public with projected works of art on the huge industrial hall walls.
Guests embark on a journey between fairy tale, hallucination and dream when they enter the former gas blower hall of the Phoenix West blast furnace plant. They gaze at melting clocks, marvel at abstract animals with huge legs and distorted bodies and immerse themselves in geometric form games. The thematic tour leads through metaphysical landscapes and imaginative worlds that Dalí once conceived. Some works can be classified as Cubist, others as Surrealist, and still others as Futurist or Realist.
The exhibition spans over 60 years of the Spanish artist's career. It is musically accompanied by an atmospheric medley by the British rock band Pink Floyd.
