Where NRW is the most mountainousSauerland

Look at me! My natural charisma is seductive, isn't it? Many people love me for exactly that, especially hikers. But ski holidaymakers also like to visit me. Because they find exactly what they're looking for here in the Sauerland. Namely a lot of altitude metres, which also impress sporty gravel bikers! But before you start counting, I've already done that for you. My landscape is characterised by more than 2,700 impressive hills that are higher than 400 metres. The two highest mountains in the country, the Langenberg and the Kahle Asten, are even higher than 840 metres. So I am a real challenge. Do you accept it?

Great. Then let's start right away. You decide where to go and how steep the ascent should be. If you have a bit of time, we can meet up on the Rothaarsteig long-distance hiking trail, the Sauerland forest route or the Sauerland high-altitude flight, which they have christened the "path of the senses" here. Some even claim that only flying is more beautiful than roaming over the peaks of the low mountain range landscape between the Ruhr area and the Hessian state border. Sweat-inducing or not. Just look at this marvellous view over the forests and valleys. And can you hear the gentle murmur of the trees and streams? The silence up here does something to you. Am I right?

Oh, so late already. I've completely forgotten the time and the first snow is already falling. Wait for me. I'll be right back, I just have to quickly groom the trails and get the lifts going. Because in winter I turn into one of the largest ski resorts north of the Alps. Will you take on this challenge too? I'd be up for it.
