I have a soft spot for black and white! Do you too? Then come and visit me in Siegen-Wittgenstein. With so many half-timbered houses, you'll hardly know where to look first. So I'll help you a little. I'm particularly proud of my most beautiful little town, whose historic old town even has the title of an international monument and is an extremely popular photo motif. 80 black and white half-timbered houses make up the "Old Spot" in Freudenberg. You have to see it. The small alleyways and steps. The old cobblestones. Don't you have the feeling that time simply stood still here at some point?
And I have even more historic town centres to offer. I'll just mention Bad Laasphe, Bad Berleburg, Hilchenbach and, of course, Siegen. The largest city in the region also has a lot more to offer. Did you know, for example, that the famous painter Peter-Paul Rubens was born here? Or that the university city on the River Sieg is Germany's greenest city?
And I'll go one better! Siegen-Wittgenstein is the most densely wooded district in the whole country. You'll be amazed, won't you? You can experience nature here with all your senses on a hike along the Rothaarsteig. Of course, you can also come here on a mountain bike. There are plenty of mountains and valleys for fast-paced downhill tours in my area.
