Every two years, Europe's largest crime fiction festival presents exciting lectures, readings and galas along the old Hellweg military and trade route. Between September and November, extraordinary event locations are transformed into venues and reading stages for crime and thriller literature. They are selected to match new book treasures presented by stars of the scene.
Around 30 municipalities and institutions are taking part in the Biennale, which is organized by the Westphalian Literature Office and the cultural department of the district town of Unna. Authors such as Jussi Adler-Olsen, Sebastian Fitzek, Joy Fielding, Simon Beckett and Arne Dahl have already celebrated success with scenic descriptions of crime scenes and mysterious crimes at "Mord am Hellweg". The organizers are publishing their own crime anthology with the best stories especially for the festival.

If you want to experience the full entertainment program, you should also get a ticket for the "ExtraFahrt" of the Hellweg Crime Express. Special trains travel from venue to venue on a family day; they stop at locations in Dortmund, Holzwickede, Unna, Soest and Hamm. The actors and writers also offer literary enjoyment during the journey.
