One of the most traditional fairs in Germany takes place every year on the second weekend in September in Bonn Beuel. The origins of the Pützchens Markt date back to the 14th century.

According to legend, St. Adelheid plunged her abbess's staff into the ground after a long dry spell, causing water to gush out of the ground at this point. The new well or "Pütz" gave its name to the village of Pützchen, which subsequently became a place of pilgrimage. This place of pilgrimage, with its stalls, traders, jugglers and artists, formed the early Pützchens Markt.

Fireworks at the end

Today, with around 900,000 visitors a year, Puetzchens Markt is much more than just a small fair. It is not only home to traditional carousels and nostalgic rides, but also state-of-the-art funfair technology and a total of around 500 stores of all kinds. The highlight always comes at the very end: the fifth and final day of the funfair is celebrated with the big fireworks display.
