Peter Behrens is one of the most important German architects and was a pioneer of modern design. The newly designed permanent exhibition dedicated to him in the Peter Behrens Building in Oberhausen presents architectural models specially developed according to original designs as well as current and historical photographs of his buildings - from his early home in Darmstadt to the tobacco factory in Linz.
These works on display complement a number of exhibits from the collection of the LVR Industrial Museum, including early household objects from the Art Nouveau period and technical equipment for well-known companies such as AEG and Villeroy & Boch, as well as items on loan from other institutes and private collectors. The focus is on Behrens' work as an architect and industrial designer.
