Stars, lights, photo spotsNRW by night

Whether on balmy summer nights or in the winter months when the sun sets early, you can easily explore DeinNRW in the dark, by bike or on foot. On the way, you can see the Milky Way with the naked eye or illuminated works of art. Pack your torch and be enchanted by our highlights that light up the night.

Tip 1Cycling through the night

The Nightride tour through the Ruhr region starts in Oberhausen. From here, the route heads towards the sunset as far as Duisburg. Whether it's harbour romance with illuminated containers, industrial culture that can be seen from afar or a blue grotto - on this tour through the night, you should plan enough time for one or two stops to marvel and take photos.

Tip 2Luminous art

Climbing at night: no problem in the Ruhr region. Walkers are rewarded for their efforts with glowing highlights on the tops of spoil tips. Some spoil tips glow particularly beautifully in the dark. Such as the Rheinpreußen spoil tip in Moers: the Geleucht is at the top here. A red floodlit observation tower in the shape of a miner's lamp. An impressive work of art and unique photo motif, especially at night. A torch or headlamp is highly recommended for the descent.

Tip 3Stargazing in the Eifel

Looking for constellations or seeing the Milky Way with the naked eye - not so easy in well-lit NRW. But there is one place where it gets really dark at night: on the grounds of IP Vogelsang in the Eifel. Here, visitors can look up and experience a very special night landscape with a twinkling starry sky in the middle of nature.
