LWL-Museum Textilwerk Bocholt

Bocholt

The LWL-Museum Textilwerk Bocholt is a museum factory. Opened in 1989, the museum for industrial culture was designed according to historical models. On the site of the former Herding spinning mill, visitors can still see a boiler house with a chimney, a machine house, a production hall with shed roofs, a workshop and workers' houses. At the turn of the century, over 20,000 spindles were turning at the former production site.

Culture fans can learn more about historical and modern textile production techniques in special exhibitions or learn more about fashion design. After a visit to the spinning mill, a visit to the nearby weaving mill, which is also part of the LWL-Museum Textilwerk Bocholt, is a good idea. The large weaving hall smells of oil and the historic looms rattle during the daily show production. Between yarn, rollers and cogwheels, visitors experience how the rhythm of the machines determined the work 100 years ago. Fabrics for towels and tablecloths are still produced here every day.
