Westphalia has a feud to thank for one of the most beautiful and best-preserved fortifications from the Middle Ages. Built in 1271 at the behest of the prince-bishop of Münster, Vischering Castle is now home to a historical museum, an exhibition on castles and fortresses and rooms where temporary exhibitions and events are held. It attracts around 80,000 visitors to Lüdinghausen every year. The most beautiful exhibit, however, is the castle itself.
