The Von der Heydt-Museum Wuppertal takes visitors on a journey through the periods of European art history with the exhibition "Times and Spaces. Classics from the Ruisdael to Giacometti Collection" through the periods of European art history. It presents extracts from its outstanding collection to the public. Guests experience art in the form of a visual travel guide.

Included are selected paintings and sculptures from the 17th century to the 1960s. Works by Ludwig Richter, Gustave Courbet, Hans von Marées, Paul Gauguin, Claude Monet, Paula Modersohn-Becker, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Jacob van Ruisdael, Otto Dix and Hans Arp take visitors on a journey to the Netherlands and Flanders, to the art capitals of Paris and Berlin and to the inconspicuous little town of Worpswede. Here, at the end of the 19th century, a center of creativity was founded, an artists' colony with an influence far beyond the country's borders.

With this exhibition, the Von der Heydt-Museum emphasizes its special position in the museum landscape of North Rhine-Westphalia. The museum's collection comprises 2,000 paintings, 500 sculptures, 800 photographs and 30,000 graphic sheets.
