With the exhibition "What's there to laugh about?", the Ludwiggalerie Schloss Oberhausen opens up the imaginative cosmos of the figure creator, author and illustrator Walter Moers. It presents original drawings, puppets and animations, taking into account the special humor of their creator. Guests meet cult characters such as Captain Bluebear, who spins sailor's yarns, or the always provocative Little Asshole.
The fantastic continent of Zamonia takes up a special space in the show. Moers has dedicated seven novels to it. Its inhabitants can also be found on the tour of Oberhausen Palace. They include Hildegunst von Mythenmetz, Zamonia's greatest writer, the Wolpertinger Rumo and the Fhernhachen siblings Ensel and Krete.
The many literary allusions that Moers incorporates into his books are broken down using examples. Young and old alike can get to grips with Moers' grotesque style and imaginative language.
