The fan chant is an expression of joy, a sign of support and a total declaration of allegiance. Sometimes it is beautiful, sometimes provocative. The most emotional pieces can be heard in soccer stadiums. The cultural series "Kunsthalle for Music" now proves that fan singing can also be part of a large composition project with Act III.
The Berlin-based American composer and artist Ari Benjamin Meyers extracts the captivating power of the gigantic body of sound that moves the masses in the stadium from the football matches and transposes it - appropriately - to the stadium.from the football matches and - in keeping with the European Football Championship year 2024 - moves it to iconic, sometimes beautiful and identity-forming, sometimes abandoned places in Mönchengladbach.
The result will be a new song for the city, which will be presented to the general public alongside a making-of of Act III from October 6 in the temporary exhibition space of the Museum Abteiberg. QR codes will make the music audible to passers-by at the original performance venues. "Kunsthalle for Music. Act III" thus follows on seamlessly from its predecessor Act II, which will seek an interface between music and art via a live music exhibition in the museum from April 14, 2024 to May 26, 2024.
