Soft night market at Walbeck Castle in Geldern

Walbeck Castle is looking forward to an atmospheric Christmas season. The Christmas market at Walbeck Castle opens from Friday, 29.11. to Sunday, 01.12 December and from Friday, 06.12 to Sunday, 08.12. The opening hours are Fridays from 16:00 to 21:00, Saturdays from 13:00 to 22:00 and Sundays from 11:00 to 20:00.

After the very cozy Christmas market in 2023, the atmosphere of the castle grounds and the Christmas decorations will once again set special accents this year and give visitors an atmospheric start to the Advent season Many actors from last year and numerous new exhibitors have confirmed their participation.

This market is characterized by a cosy, pre-Christmas atmosphere in which visitors feel at ease. Therefore, a large part of the required light is generated by Christmas decorations or natural light sources. A live musical program on the Wald- & Schlossbühne stage will contribute to this contemplative atmosphere on all Christmas market days from the afternoon onwards.

A special role is played by the exhibitors' Christmas products, most of which they have made themselves. Visitors will be able to take home handcrafted gifts and a variety of ideas after their visit. The culinary delights also focus on home-made products and treats. Visitors can explore the site via a signposted route to make sure they don't miss any exhibitors.

The KINDERWEIHNACHTSMARKT, which is unique in the district, will also be there. For the third time, this market is part of the Christmas market on Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m..

Schools, clubs and kindergartens have the opportunity to present themselves here free of charge. There will be a program by children for children. The children will be selling lots of great home-made products, but there will also be lots of great interactive activities for children. At the end, a special surprise awaits every child. Santa Claus with his red coat will be out and about on both weekends and is looking forward to seeing bright eyes or perhaps hearing a poem or two from the children.

Santa's letterbox is also looking forward to receiving lots of post and wish lists, which will of course all be forwarded to the appropriate place.

The entrance fee is 5 euros per person (children 5 to 11 years 2 euros, children up to 4 years free). A weekend ticket can be purchased for 10 euros.
