Every two years, Equitana is the focal point of the equestrian world in the Ruhr region. Horse companies, breeding associations, internationally renowned professionals and leisure riders come together at the exhibition center in Essen. They find out about the latest innovations in the areas of competition equipment, husbandry, feeding, care, accessories and clothing or take a look at different horse breeds and riding styles.
Competitions in various equestrian disciplines are just as much a crowd-puller at the trade fair as spectacular shows. These include western and baroque riding as well as classic show jumping and dressage. The "Hop Top Show", in which the best of the international show riding scene demonstrate their skills in a mixture of musical and equestrian performance, is also accompanied by light and sound effects and is a strong crowd puller. Lessons, live training sessions and seminars with equestrian sport greats, national trainers and top instructors are part of the multifaceted program.
Alternating with Messe Essen, Equitana Open Air is held every two years at the Neuss racecourse park. The open-air event also brings together a wide variety of horse breeds and riding styles in sport, breeding and show competitions.
