Once a year, Blomberg's town center is transported back to a bygone era, to the time of the English writer Charles Dickens. Dickens, whose works "David Copperfield", "Bleak House", "Great Expectations" and "Dombey and Son" were voted the most important British novels by 82 international literary critics and scholars in 2015, is best known in Germany for "Oliver Twist" and "A Christmas Carol". And this is exactly the time when the members of the Kulturwerkstatt will be dressing up the already beautiful old town with its wonderful half-timbered buildings in a historical costume on the third Advent in Blomberg.

Numerous traders, who have decorated their stalls with great attention to detail and can be found in historical clothing themselves, will be selling their wares in an old-fashioned way. There is also a rich and special range of food and drink for food lovers.
But of course this is by no means just a sales event. Numerous singers, whether in groups or as individual artists, perform Christmas carols in the streets of Blomberg. Gangs of children unsettle the streets, through which a disgruntled Ebenezer Scrooge often strolls, initially spreading "bad cheer". Charles Dickens himself reads from his works. The ghosts of Christmas are scattered around the town and the Whitechapel Gazette creates real fake promissory bills or titles of nobility. In addition, cabaret artists and walking acts provide amusement and entertainment.
Of course, the town also has its fairy godmothers, who are advertised at the time of the event by their lords with "only five pounds a quarter stall".
An absolutely varied program that provides a wonderful backdrop to the historical setting. According to many tourists, Blomberg is always worth a visit, but certainly on the third Advent, when countless Blombergers and visitors from near and far dress up in the clothes of days gone by.
Guests are always welcome, whether dressed up or not. But "guests"? Many have become a part of the event themselves over the years, an event that grows and grows and grows.
