To mark the 130th birthday of the photographer Anne Winterer (1894-1938), the St. Antony-Hütte of the LVR Industrial Museum in Oberhausen is presenting the exhibition "Anne Winterer - Rheinland und Ruhrgebiet im Blick. Photography of the 1920s and 1930s". With over 60 photographs, the exhibition provides a unique insight into people's lives. The show depicts workers at their daily work in the large industrial plants as well as private individuals enjoying themselves with their families at a St. Martin's parade or a funfair stroll.
Anne Winterer, who was born in Constance, worked in Düsseldorf and was one of the few women in the then male-dominated field of industrial photography. From 1925 to 1935, she ran the "Hehmke-Winterer Photographic Workshop" here together with Erna Wagner-Hehmke. During this time, they produced impressive documentation of mines and steelworks in the Ruhr region, including well-known photographs of the Cleverbank colliery and the Gutehoffnungshütte. The exhibition at the LVR Industrial Museum is the first to present a selection of these works, which are now part of the museum's collection.
