For centuries, the Gräflicher Park has offered many people an oasis for body, mind and soul. Created in 1782 by Count Caspar Heinrich von Sierstorpff when the spa was founded, the Count's Park is one of the most beautiful parks in Germany. Unlike all other spas in Germany, it has been in the family of the Counts of Oeynhausen-Sierstorpff for seven generations and has already received several awards.
Recent honors include the 2018 Grand Monument Award from the Foundation of the German Castle Association. The Gräflicher Park is also an anchor garden of the European Garden Route (EGHN), which includes famous gardens such as the English Tatton Park, the Belgian Kasteelpark Bulskampveld and the UNESCO World Heritage Site Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe in Kassel.
Artists and landscape architects are regularly involved in the design of the Gräflicher Park. Since 2009, the "Piet Oudolf Garden" has been one of the few publicly accessible gardens by the Dutch garden architect in Germany. Another attraction is the walk-in sculpture "Head and Body Bad Driburg" by artist Michael Sailstorfer, which was erected in the middle of the maze in Gräflicher Park in 2017. The Belgian landscape architect François Goffinet is currently working on new projects.
Those who follow in the footsteps of the 240-year-old park will not only encounter contemporary personalities, but also famous guests of Bad Driburg such as Friedrich Hölderlin and his "Diotima" Susette Gontard. The poet Annette von Droste-Hülshoff is also one of the historical guests who took a cure in Bad Driburg in 1813 and 1818.
In addition to regular guided tours of the park, musical entertainment is also provided. In fine weather, an ensemble plays in the concert shell or otherwise in the fountain arcades all year round. You can find the times and information about the spa concerts here.
Children of all ages can let off steam to their heart's content in the newly created adventure playground or discover the fallow deer and Jacob's sheep in the game enclosure . If you would like to feed the friendly animals, simply use the feeding machine.
In the heart of the park, next to the "Gräflicher Park - Health & Balance Resort" hotel, you will also find the Gräfliche Gesundheitszentrum, where you can take advantage of beneficial health services such as mud or mineral baths from the park's own natural remedies.
