Every year during the summer season, children, teenagers and adult amusement park fans in the Sauerland become cowboys and cowgirls. This is when Fort Fun Abenteuerland with its numerous attractions opens its doors to adventurous day-trippers. Near Bestwig in the Hochsauerland region, there are around 40 attractions for visitors of all ages spread over 75 hectares. The Wild West theme runs through all areas. The Devil's Mine roller coaster takes visitors on a fast-paced ride through a gold mine and the Wild River water ride promises adventure on a raging river. The shows also put visitors in a saloon mood. In "Secret of the Silver Mine", for example, Sheriff Fuzzy has to catch notorious scoundrels.
Other highlights of the Fort Fun Adventure World include the longest summer toboggan run in Europe and the hang glider, which allows passengers to fly down the mountain at over 80 km/h. Young visitors love the ladybug rollercoaster and the adventurous treasure hunt in the gold panning facility at Devil's Mine, where children can find fossils and precious stones as well as precious metals.
Dwarf zebus, llamas, four-horned sheep, marsh geese and other animals can be visited by park guests, and some can even be stroked in the petting zoo. And if the journey home is too far, visitors can simply spend the night in the log cabin camp at the end of an eventful day and feel like they are in the Wild West for a little longer.
